Welcome Labyrinth Students/Parents!

I’m Erik Ogle, a tutor/teacher of languages—mostly of the ancient and dead variety. I have a formal background in the Classics and Linguistics, as well as teaching ESL. My hometown is Denver, although I have lived in the Seattle area for 8 years, having gotten here via Chicago, Gangneung, Ulaanbaatar, Gashora and Shenzhen. See my CV for more information.

I mostly tutor Latin and Ancient Greek, but I also have competency and teaching experience in Hebrew, Old Norse, Old English, Old Irish, Aramaic, and Akkadian. My travels and interests have given me a smattering of other languages, to a greater or lesser degree, but those listed have been the ones my students have been most curious about! Additionally, I’ve always had a fondness for indigenous languages, and though I don’t teach any, I’d be happy to share advice and resources with those interested.

Although I usually teach online, I am delighted to be teaching in person with two home-schooling groups in the area— Labyrinth and Frog Hollow, where I am also teaching writing and history classes.

In my freetime, you can find me hiking the beautiful mountains and beaches of Washington, biking around town, or sitting on my deck with my harp or Irish flute.
